What is the Victoria URG Scheme?

If you are eligible, the Victorian URG Scheme will give you up to $650.00 per utility account (electricity, gas, water) to help manage your bills and get back on track.

How do I sign up?

Call 1800 065 475 to speak to a friendly consultant who can assess your individual situation, who will send you a Victorian Utility Relief Form. The form will come with a reply paid envelope to be assessed by Department of Housing along with a due date. The form must be with Department of Housing before the due to date prevent the application from being cancelled. If you need assistance fill out the form, please contact a financial councillor 

To be eligible you must hold at least one of the following concession cards:

  • Pensioner Concession Card
  • Health Care Card
  • Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card

You must also meet one of the five following criteria:

  • A significant increase in usage
  • A recent decrease in income, such as loss of employment
  • High unexpected expenses on essential items
  • The cost of shelter is more than 30 per cent of the household income
  • The cost of utilities is more than 10 per cent of the household income

Simply Energy is here to help and so are your other creditors. It’s really important to tell them (banks, phone, water supplier) about your financial situation. You’ll get the best solution if you’re open and honest about having trouble paying your bills, as they will have processes to help you.
