Blue skies, not a breath of wind and big hearts combined for our 2018 Charity Golf Day event, which raised an incredible $58,000 to help Very Special Kids support families with children battling life-threatening conditions.

For more than eight years we’ve supported this incredible charity with more than $100,000 raised through various initiatives. It has meant Very Special Kids can continue their amazing work to provide a children’s hospice and professional family support services

Our charity golf day in November 2018 gathered 72 players from across our generous partners who chipped and putted their way to a much-needed injection of funds. Through partner contributions to play, 20 live actions and 50 silent auction items just to name a few activities everyone dug deep so we were able to raise such a huge amount for this incredibly worthy charity.

“We’re making a difference for families that are in some really tough circumstances. I’m really proud of the work that we do and this is a really special day and a really special tradition of Simply Energy,” said Shannon Hyde, CEO at Simply Energy.

Very Special Kids helps support more than 900 families from the first day of diagnosis. The Very Special Kids Hospice is the only hospice in Victoria that gives these families respite (both planned and emergency) and end-of-life care.

Character

“Very Special Kids supports families who have a child with a life-threatening condition,” explained Michael Wasley, CEO of Very Special Kids. “We rely on 80% of our funds coming in from the corporate community and private donations so without organisations like Simply Energy, we just wouldn’t be able to afford to do what we do.”

At Simply Energy we’re proud and humbled to play our part in helping Very Special Kids look after families in tough situations.
