Simply Energy becomes first Energy Charter #BetterTogether Collaborator

Supporting the energy sector towards a customer-centric future

On 2 August 2021, Simply Energy became the Energy Charter’s first official retail energy #BetterTogether Collaborator – the result of months of hard work and collaboration.

The Energy Charter is a national CEO-led collaboration that supports the energy sector towards a customer-centric future.  

It’s a mission that Simply Energy share. 

We’re passionate about delivering improved outcomes for our customers and communities, and excited to build collaborative networks across the energy sector through the Energy Charter and its signatories.

The Energy Charter champions the customer. The #BetterTogether initiatives allow the energy sector and customer representatives to work together to explore ideas that benefit and help energy customers. The best ideas are then supported to be taken to the next level through and collaboration across the energy industry.  

The #BetterTogether initiatives leverage high impact areas for meaningful change, bringing to life the five Energy Charter principles:

  1. We will put customers at the centre of our business and the energy system
  2. We will improve energy affordability for customers
  3. We will provide energy safely, sustainably and reliably
  4. We will improve the customer experience
  5. We will support customers facing vulnerable circumstances

So far, Simply Energy have worked on #BetterTogether initiatives including the COVID-19 Customer Vulnerability Research, using insights from national research, panels and forums to drive better outcomes for customers in vulnerable circumstances.

As a #BetterTogether Collaborator, we’re also looking forward to furthering initiatives that we already have in place to help make energy simpler and more affordable for our customers, including: 

  • Providing energy sustainably – all Simply Energy new plans provide 100% carbon neutral energy, it’s not an option, add-on or app you’ll need to activate. We are also innovating in the renewables space, helping customers supercharge their solar through projects such as our virtual power plant programs.
  • Improving customer experience – our Simply Energy MyAccount app and Tracker for smart meter customers help you track, manage and stay in control of your energy
  • Supporting customers experiencing financial difficulties. Whether long- or short-term, if you’re having difficulties paying your bill, we’re here to help with everything from payment extensions and fixed instalment plans to energy saving and concessions advice. 

As Simply Energy CEO Shannon Hyde says, “It’s critical that we work closely with our peers in the energy industry, as this will enable us to better tailor energy solutions and support to fit customer needs. When it comes to putting customers first, we really are Better Together.”
