Saving with motors

Electric motors need regular servicing. Make sure motor mounting, pulleys, attached pumps and/or fans are mechanically sound.
Regularly maintain motor starting equipment.
If you hear unusual noises or the motor feels too hot, have it serviced promptly.
Ensure motors have adequate ventilation and are free of rubbish or waste.
With large motors, continuous operation often saves more energy than stop/start operations.
Motor capacity and speed should match the function or process.
Place 'Switch Off' notices near machines.
Install variable speed drives (VSD) whenever suitable.
