How is Green energy different, and why is it important?
In Australia, approximately one third of our greenhouse gas emissions come from using fossil fuels to produce energy, such as burning brown coal.
There are sustainable alternatives to fossil fuel energy production, such as energy sourced from the sun, wind, water and waste. These are collectively known as Green energy sources, and are important because they don’t add to our emissions.
Sounds good, but how can I be guaranteed the energy I purchase is actually Green?
The Federal Government’s National GreenPower Accreditation Program accredits GreenPower products to ensure that participating consumers' contributions are actually used to purchase electricity from approved renewable resources.
Simply Energy currently sources its GreenPower energy from the wind, and meeting these strict government requirements means we've earned GreenPower accreditation and have the GreenPower 'tick' of approval.

Right, I’m in then. What does Simply Energy offer in the way of Green deals?
Simply Energy offers customers two competitive Green energy deals:
- Simply Energy’s ‘Green’ deal, where you get 10% GreenPower accredited energy, at no extra cost, or;
- Simply Energy’s ‘Very Green’ deal, where you get 100% GreenPower accredited energy, i.e. zero emissions,
So, going Green won’t cost you the earth after all.
